MINDEN, La. -

A pair of Minden teens will be prosecuted as adults on charges of second degree murder in connection to a beating, which resulted in the death of a Minden man.
Antonio Thornton and Chester Kimmons, both 16 years old, along with 24-year-old Roshun Huey, of Minden, are accused of the October 21, Columbia Street, beating of 39-year-old Cedric Kingsby.
Monday’s grand jury decision to charge the teens as adults follows upgraded charges on the trio to second degree murder, up from second degree battery. Those charges were upgraded by Minden Police in late October after Kingsby succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalized for roughly a week.
According to Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper, the teens have an extensive criminal history. Cropper said during the incident Kingsby was hit multiple times in the face and also fell backward causing his head to hit the ground.
“One of the suspects said after they knocked Kingsby out they continued hitting him,” Cropper said.
The trio was tracked down in October by Minden Police after receiving tips from residents regarding the beating. Authorities say the teens are expected to be transferred from Ware Youth Center in Coushatta to the parish jail – Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center (BDCC), an adult corrections facility. Huey remains incarcerated at BDCC. Mug shots of the teens were not immediately available.
If convicted of second degree murder the three face mandatory sentences of life imprisonment without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
