With people filling up less often because of high gas prices, tax revenues are going down for some agencies.

The Texas department of transportation is having to make some cutbacks as a result.

The agency says it will cut back on planning some future projects, but those already underway will continue.

According to Tex-Dot, any road work which is already funded or currently underway will not be impacted.

The agency says it's taking a double hit from gas prices because, along with less revenue, construction costs have jumped 62%.

"Unless there is an increase in the fuel tax or other funding comes in, then we're looking at some tough times ahead," said Marcus Sandifer.
