SHREVEPORT, LA. -

Police detectives are investigating an early morning home invasion in southeast Shreveport that has left one man dead.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. on September 2, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to an apartment home in the 3200 block of Knight Street relative to a shooting call.
Upon arrival there, officers were contacted by several witnesses who reported to them that two suspects approached them as they sat outside on their patio.
Witnesses advised that the suspects, both wearing coverings on their faces and armed with handguns, forced them inside the apartment at gun point.
While inside the apartment, the armed bandits stole items belonging to the owner. As the suspects were preparing to leave the apartment, an unsuspecting male visitor who had previously been at the home moments earlier, walked into the house.
A struggle between the man and the suspects ensued, at which time the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
The suspects fled the scene following the shooting. The victim was transported to LSUHSC where he was later pronounced deceased.
There were no other persons injured in the incident. The name of the victim has not been released pending official notification of next of kin.
The suspects were described as black males, both approximately five feet eleven inches to six feet one inches in height, weighing approximately 150-160 pounds.
The investigation is ongoing at this hour as authorities seek to identify and apprehend the suspects.
