Around 10:30 am this morning, there was a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA Highway 1, about one mile from LA 509.

LA State Police say the vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Brady Thigpen of Mansfield, was traveling southbound on Hwy 1 when it exited the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Thigpen sustained serious injuries and was transferred from the accident by Life Air Rescue to LSU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

An official with the LA State Police say speed is a factor in this accident but impairment is not suspected.  

The crash remains under investigation.
