A DeSoto Parish School Board Member makes appearance in federal court.
Douglas “Barthlomew” Claiborne is charged with one count distribution of cocaine.
Bond has been set at $50,000.
Claiborne, who was wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackles, appeared to be in good spirits as he faced the federal magistrate.
His next court date is scheduled for September 4th at 2pm.
He was arrested Wednesday night in Shreveport.
The Superintendent of DeSoto Parish Schools tells KTBS that the situation is regrettable but says Claiborne will continue to be a member of the school board unless he chooses otherwise.
Claiborne has served on the DeSoto School Board for two terms.
