Shreveport, LA (KTBS) -

An argument at a local grocery store resulted in a shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Shreveport police responded to a shooting at Pinkey's Corner just before 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Authorities tell KTBS 3 News that two men, one of whom was dressed as a woman, got into an argument and then shots rang out.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Xavier O'neal, 18 of Shreveport, suffering from what was described as a single gunshot wound to his lower body. While on the scene, authorities learned of a second man, identified as 27 year-old Christopher Chevalier of Shreveport, who was located a short distance away in the 3800 block of Milam Street.

Both men were transported to LSUHSC, where O'neal was last listed in critical but stable condition. Chevalier, who was not seriously injured, was last listed in good condition.

Based on information obtained at the scene, authorities believe that Chevalier was the first to pull a gun and fired at least one round at O'neal. Investigators aren't sure if O'neal returned fire, striking Chevalier, or perhaps other people who were present with O'neal during the incident, may have fired the shots.

Detectives have charged Chevalier with a single count of aggravated second degree battery. Chevalier, upon his release from the hospital, is expected to be booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about this crime to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at lockemup.org
