Homer, LA -

Homer police officers have made an arrest in the hit and run accident that occurred earlier this week.

Officers arrested Harvey Henry Huse, 62, of Homer.

Huse is accused in the hit and run accident on December 5, 2012. The Homer Police Chief tells KTBS that after receiving a tip from an anonymous concerned citizen, officers went to Huse's residence where he later confessed to the crime.

Lieutenant Roger Smith with the Homer Police Department told KTBS that at 5:29 Tuesday evening, Ernest Sogokuru had gotten out of his 18-wheeler at a red light in Homer and was struck by a white pick-up truck.

Smith says the pick-up was going about 30 mph.

Sogokuru was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport where he is still in ICU in critical condition.

Homer Police Chief Russell Mills says that without the tip from the unidentified concerned citizen, this case would still be open.

Huse is currently being held in the Claiborne Parish Detention Center.

No bond has been set.
