Authorities have released the identity of a man who was fatally wounded following an overnight shooting in south Shreveport.  

Shreveport Police investigators have identified 17 year old Demarcus Jones as the victim of the Thursday night fatal shooting. The incident happened near the 800 block of Turner Lane in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood. Police say that the victim was standing in his yard when he was shot in the chest. Jones was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at LSUHSC.   

Authorities are still in the process of gathering information in efforts to piece together what factors led up to the shooting and to identify and apprehend those persons responsible.
