On Louisiana's ballot yesterday there were 9 constitutional amendments. Of the 9 amendments, all but one were passed.
The 9 amendments include the following:
Amendment 1- Act 873 was passed. Act 873 pertains to a Medicaid Trust Fund for the Elderly.
Amendment 2- Act 874 was passed. Act 874 pertains to the right American citizens to keep and bear arms.
Amendment 3- Act 872 was passed. Act 872 pertains to prefiling for retirement for public employees.
Amendment 4- Act 875 was passed. Act 875 pertains to Homestead Exemption for the surviving spouses of deceased veterans.
Amendment 5- Act 868 was passed. Act 868 pertains to the forfeiture retirement benefit for a public official who is associated with or convicted of a felony while in office.
Amendment 6- Act 869 was the only amendment not to pass. Act 869 pertains to the ad valorem tax exemption contracts by the city of New Iberia for annexed property.
Amendment 7- Act 870 was passed. Act 870 pertains to constitutional boards and commissions being allowed to retain the existing number of members and to provide for implementation of membership from reapportioned congressional districts by filling vacancies first from under-represented districts and then from the state at large.
Amendment 8- Act 871 was passed. Act 871 pertains to authorizing the granting of ad valorem tax exemption contracts by the Board of Commerce and Industry for businesses located in parishes which have chosen to participate in a program established for the granting of such contracts.
Amendment 9- Act 876 was passed. Act 876 pertains to security districts and parcel fee within district.
