A job fair was held Thursday in Texarkana, Texas focusing on veterans.

About 67 area employers set up booths at Central Mall.

The initiative, called "Red, White and You" was held in 28 different locations across Texas.

The joint initiative is supported by Governor Perry, the Texas Veterans Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission to help connect veterans with employers.

According to Workforce Solutions of Northeast Texas, the veteran unemployment rate is higher the general population.

Veterans in Bowie County represent about 10% of the total population.
