A Vietnam veteran has put his war experiences on paper. Jimmie Brown wrote the book "Pappy's Raiders" about his service in the Vietnam War.

He signed copies Saturday in Pierre Bossier Mall. Brown was in charge of a reconnaissance squad and says everyone called him "Pappy" because he was the oldest.

"After a few fire fights, brigade wanted some raiders to go in different places in Vietnam. So, they picked on us and they called us 'Pappy's Raiders' and that's how that name come about and it stuck with us," said Brown.

He says his squad was together for three and a half years and during that time he lost his best friend in the war.

"He jumped over me and took the rounds meant for me and he saved my life," said Brown.

Brown says a film about his war experiences is in the works.
