Fran Smallwood and her three daughters are part of a unique learning opportunity through the Louisiana Connections Academy.
The academy is fully accredited, and its model of learning is based on an online curriculum that meets state standards.
Smallwood says knowing that the teachers are certified gives her the confidence that her children are receiving a quality education.
"There's that one-on-one, rather than one to 25," says Smallwood.
And it's that individualized attention that the Academy principal, Caroline Wood, says makes this option a stand-out for families who want the convenience of a home-school model, but the rigorous standards of a state-approved course of study.
"We are an accredited, public school, that has the same level of accountability of any public school," said Wood. "All of our students have to go through state testing."
An option of virtual learning-- for modern students.
