It's been a month since authorities arrested nearly three dozen suspected gang members and drug dealers in north Webster Parish. So was the massive round-up a success?

In the towns of Cullen and Springhill, just about the only sounds you hear are traffic, construction and birds. Vandee Sanders says it's a far cry from a little more than a month ago when you could hear sounds of gunfire. But a lot of that's changed since the may 29th round-up of dozens of suspected gang members and drug dealers.

Webster narcotics agent Shawn Baker says gang-related violence has all but disappeared. Unfortunately Baker says the round-up didn't help as far as drugs are concerned. Just this week, agents busted what they call a significant meth lab.

Baker says as hard as agents try, no round-up in the world can completely combat the drug trade, but Cullen Mayor Bobby Washington will take what he can get. And authorities will continue working on it for as long as it takes.
