CADDO PARISH, La. -

The residents along Wells Island Road in Caddo Parish who lost their water last week have reason to smile again.

Caddo Parish Public Works employees on Thursday turned the water back on to the half a dozen homes and businesses. They lost their water after Shreveport officials found out a private company, Analytical Logging, had been buying city water and reselling it to residents and businesses nearby.

City and parish officials met with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and came to an agreement to get the water restored to those residents.

"As of right now we do have the water turned back on for the residents and families up here," said Caddo Parish Commissioner Michael Williams (Dist. 3). "But our mission is not complete. I'm excited. It's Christmas and people will have clean drinking water."

Those residents on Wells Island Road that are receiving city water are still under a boil advisory.
