Wells Island Rd. residents to lose water
Residents of a small Caddo Parish community along Wells Island Road are expecting their water to be cut off any day.
For 15 years, Analytical Logging has reportedly been redistributing Shreveport city water to some of the homes and businesses there. Those "customers" have been paying a flat monthly rate, a practice not authorized by the city.
On top of that, Analytical hasn't been paying its water bill to the city. The city of Shreveport gave Analytical until Friday, December 7 to pay up.
Residents there, who say they've paid their water bill to Analytical every month, are now preparing for their water to be cut off.
"So we're faced with living without any running water whatsoever," said resident Tom Oaks. "I've been trying to stockpile to do whatever I can around here."
Analytical currently owes the city of Shreveport about $26,000. Officials with the company have not responded to multiple requests for comment.
An official with Mayor Cedric Glover's office say it's not a city issue, because the residents there live outside the city limits.
Louisiana Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell's office is requesting that the city leave the water on until the problem can be resolved.
