Schools canceled Monday classes and churches called off services Sunday as a day-long dose of winter weather hit the ArkLaTex and made travel risky.

All of Interstate 220 and Interstate 49 in the Shreveport city limits closed because of concerns about icing.

There were several wrecks on Interstate 20 in Shreveport and Bossier City Sunday night. Bossier City police restricted access to the interstate at one point and shut down several lanes during the night.

Public schools in Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Webster and Red River parishes were among those that canceled classes on Monday because of deteriorating weather conditions and power outages.

Public schools on both sides of Texarkana will be closed on Monday, as will schools in Lincoln and Claiborne parishes; Marshall, Texas and Bowie County, Texas.

LSU-Shreveport, Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Grambling State University, Centenary College in Shreveport, Northwestern State University's Shreveport campus, Texas A&M Texarkana, Texarkana College, American Commercial College in Shreveport, Diesel Driving Academy, Ayers Career College and Northwest Louisiana Technical College also canceled classes on Monday. Southern University in Shreveport canceled classes but told faculty and staff to report at noon on Monday. Northwestern State University in Natchitoches was to start classes at noon on Monday.

The Caddo Parish Commission said only key personnel should report to work on Monday. Bossier City Hall was to be closed for the day.

Jury duty at the Caddo Parish Courthouse is postponed until Tuesday. U.S. District Court and federal bankruptcy court in Shreveport canceled court on Monday.

The Bossier Parish and Webster Parish courthouses, Shreveport City Court, Minden City Court and Bossier City Court were also to be closed on Monday.

Shreve Memorial Library branches will close.

Miller County Health Unit in Texarkana, Arkansas is closed today.
