Monroe police have arrested a woman accused of mistreating her dogs.
The News-Star reports 34-year-old Denita Sellers was booked Thursday on two charges of cruelty to animals and a charge of aggravated cruelty.
According to an arrest affidavit, police were called to Sellers' residence in reference to the mistreatment of animals. When police arrived, they found three pit bulls in the backyard and determined one had been beaten and starved.
The report stated the dogs had no food or water and one had a broken hip.
Police say two of the dogs were taken to a veterinarian and one was ordered to have surgery.
Bond was not set.
It was unclear whether Sellers has an attorney.
