Woman stabbed over romantic involvement
Recovering with non-life-threatening wounds
A local woman recovering from stab wounds incurred during an altercation in Shreveport’s Cedar Grove neighborhood has been charged with home invasion.
At approximately 12:59 p.m. on July 3, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing at a home in the 300 block of West 69th Street. Upon arrival, officers found 22 year old Shaquintin Johnson suffering from serious lacerations to both sides of her neck. Johnson was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives were immediately dispatched and, upon further investigation, discovered Johnson and another woman, identified as 20 year old Crystal Code, have apparently been involved in an ongoing dispute regarding a man they have both been romantically involved with. Based on witness statement as well as other information gathered at the scene, investigators believe Johnson went to Code’s home there on West 69th Street and confronted her. Code, who was standing on her front porch, went back inside her residence in an attempt to defuse the situation when Johnson allegedly followed her in and accosted her. During the attack, Code produced a box cutter and cut the assailant.
Authorities have charged Johnson, of the 300 block of West 69th Street in Shreveport, with one count of home invasion. She will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail upon her release from the hospital and her booking photo will not be available until that time. The investigation is ongoing at this hour and police will forward their findings to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office for review to determine if Code will face any criminal charges.
