Bossier City police are trying to identify a woman seen on surveillance video trying to use a bogus $500 travelers check at a shoe store last month.

The incident happened July 12 at Shoe Carnival in the 2900 block of Meadow Creek Drive. The woman tried to pass the bogus check while making a purchase, police said.

Store personnel became suspicious of the check and began to verify it. The woman said she was going outside to check on her children but never returned, police said.

The check was counterfeit, police said.

The suspect is described as a black woman, about 5-foot-4. She was wearing a yellow blouse, blue jeans and had her hair styled in a ponytail.

Anyone who can help police identify the woman from the surveillance video is asked to call the property crimes unit at the Bossier City Police Department at 318-741-8654.
