A Caddo Parish sheriff's deputy and a teenage girl were injured overnight when the girl pulled into the path of the deputy's patrol car, authorities said.

The wreck happened just before midnight at Dean Road and Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

Sheriff's deputies said the 16-year-old girl went through a blinking red light and into the path of Deputy Ricky York's patrol car.

York had just gotten off his moonlighting job, Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick said.

York suffered a leg injury.

The 16-year-old driver of the other car was seriously injured and taken to LSU Hospital, Chadwick said. Details of her condition were not available this morning.

Two other teens were in the car. One suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by private auto. The other wasn't hurt, Chadwick said.
