The Y put the building up for sale after the city of Shreveport moved its recreation programs from the facility amid the agency's ongoing internal problems over control and money. The city had expressed an interest in buying the building but could not reach an agreement with the Y's board.

A spokeswoman for the YWCA said the buyer of the Allendale building does not want to be identified. The real estate agent who is handling the sale said the sale price will be $600,000.
