A few thunderstorms developed this afternoon, due to the extreme daytime heating. Those will fall apart over the next couple of hours and we will see partly cloudy skies overnight.
Get ready for another hot afternoon on Independence day! Afternoon highs will top out near 103, with heat index values anywhere from 105-109. A heat advisory is in effect through 9 PM Saturday evening. If you are going to be heading out to the Independence Day Festival at Shreveport's Riverview Park, or at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City, make sure to drink plenty of water, bring lots of sunscreen, and wear loose fitted clothing.
We can't rule out a couple of isolated showers and storms during the afternoon, much like we have been seeing the past couple of days. Only a 10% chance is in the forecast for now, so most of us will stay mostly sunny and hot!
