Members of the Arkansas House and Senate have voted in different directions on whether members can raise campaign money during the fiscal session.
The Senate agreed on a voice vote Monday to allow campaign fund-raising. The House Rules Committee voted to keep a ban in place.
State Senator Jim Luker said he supported allowing fund-raising because an in-session ban would put members of the upper chamber at a disadvantage.
Representative Robert Moore, House Rules chairman, said the panel affirmed the ban simply because that's what the rule says.
Several members of the House and Senate are pursuing congressional races. Filing opens March 1.
