The numbers are staggering. There are more than a half million children in the foster care system in this country. That's a 90% increase since 1987. But there is something you can do about that.
Shayne, 15, is one of our Arklatex Angels currently living in a foster home in Ringgold, Louisiana.
Shayne loves reptiles and all types of animals and is considering a job that would let him work in this type of environment. It's also been a longtime goal of Shayne's to enter the military, specifically the Army.
Shayne envisions a fun and loving mom and dad who would care for him, and with just three more years left until the state of Louisiana sends Shayne out on his own, a permanent family providing love and guidance is crucial to Shayne's development into a healthy, productive young adult.
Shayne is very polite and gets along well with adults and peers. He's been in foster care for five years.
If you're interested in providing Shayne with a permanent home, please contact the Shreveport office of the Louisiana Department of Social Services at 318-676-5048. And remember, you may adopt across state lines.
