Voters in Atlanta, Texas, are being asked to approve a bond issue that would pay for construction of a new middle school.
In addition to a new building for Atlanta Middle School, the proposed construction project would include renovation of the current West Building at the campus.
The current Atlanta Middle School is more than 50 years old.
The school is estimated to cost $13.8 million and would be paid for through higher property taxes.
Property taxes on a $100,000 house would go up $160, under the proposal.
The proposal will be on the ballot on Nov. 3.
Voters 65 and older who have a property tax freeze on their homes would be exempt from an increase if the bond issue is approved.
Early voting ends Friday, Oct. 30.
