Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said Monday the NFL is conceding it has no ownership rights to the fleur-de-lis or the popular New Orleans Saints phrase "Who Dat."
Caldwell said he had a conference call with the NFL's general counsel to clarify recent cease-and-desist letters received by some T-shirt makers in the state that demanded they stop selling shirts with the traditional cheer of Saints fans.
Caldwell said the NFL is only objecting to shirts that are marketed or presented as an official Saints or NFL product.
That means that shirts which are black and gold and say "Who Dat" can be sold -- if they don't purport to be Saints gear, Caldwell said.
The saying "Who Dat?" predates the Saints. The fleur-de-lis has appeared on coats-of-arms in Europe for centuries.

Totally agree. The downfal of the NFL will be its GREED! With overpriced everything, i am sure the $13 t-shirts will bring them in the red for once...give me a break!
