The economy of Logansport and all of DeSoto parish was hit hard when Georgia Pacific announced it was closing it's Logansport mill -- laying off nearly 300 workers.

Katherine Freeman, mayor of Logansport, says some of the GP workers have found jobs.  The state is also helping with worker training.

Federal funds are being used for job searches, job training and unemployment benefits.  Part of the reason Georgia Pacific closed was because of foreign competition.

During a 3 Listens Forum at the Chamber of Commerce, residents showed their passion for the issues.

Some of the things residents are most proud of:  Back Alley Theatre in Grand Cane, public library system, LSU-S Celestial observatory, a growing chamber of commerce, two newspapers and growing industry.

The KTBS 3 Mash Bash was also held at Mansfield hospital.  20 units of blood were collected.
