Shooting At Chapel Ridge Apt Complex

On Saturday, October 06, 2012 at 9:45pm the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department responded to 4716 County Avenue, the Chapel Ridge Apartment Complex, in reference to a 911 call of shots fired. The call indicated that a female had been shot. The initial investigation revealed that a confrontation occurred in the parking lot between a group of unknown suspects and numerous shots were exchanged in the parking lot. The 14 year old female victim was inside a nearby apartment and was struck in the chest by a stray bullet that entered the apartment through a window. The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Michael Hospital and was soon transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. She is listed in critical but stable condition.

Detectives and Officers began their investigation immediately and were able to obtain suspect descriptions from several nearby witnesses. At this time four arrests have been made in this shooting, and more are expected.

Joedacie Smith (b/m/19yrs., Texarkana, TX), and   Joshua Kindrid (b/m/18yrs., Texarkana, AR), along with two other juvenile males have been arrested in connection with this shooting. The charges against the arrested suspects are listed as Battery 1st Degree, Aggravated Assault, and Terroristic Act, all of which are Felony charges. The charges have also been enhanced to include Engaging in Violent Criminal Group Activity. The adult suspects are being housed at the Bi-State Jail, and the juvenile suspects are housed at the Miller County JDC. The media will be notified as further arrests take place.
