The area around flood-swollen Loggy Bayou in far south Bossier Parish was the site of the worst flooding today as Red Chute Bayou -- which has threatened devastating flooding from Bossier City to Elm Grove for the past half week -- began a slow drop.
National guardsmen went house to house on Poole Road asking people if they wanted to leave or needed help. Many families have lived there for generations and there were few takers, Bossier sheriff's deputies said.
An evacuation advisory is in effect for the far south end of the parish. There is no mandatory evacuation.
Flooding is a problem in the mostly rural south end because the high level of the Red River is preventing Red Chute Bayou and Loggy Bayou from draining properly, causing them to back up.
Sandbagging was done along U.S. 71 south of Elm Grove today.
