The shooting rampage at Ft. Hood in Texas hits very close to home for a man in Shreveport. His daughter was on base as the shots were being fired.
Howard Harris was at his home in Shreveport Thursday afternoon when his daughter called him from Ft. Hood. He says she was very upset and confused.
Harris says he was on the phone with his daughter for about ten minutes before authorities told her a sniper was on the loose.
Harris says his daughter wasn't reunited with all of her children until Friday morning. Now that they're together, they, along with the rest of the country, are left wondering why.
Harris says his daughter's husband is currently deployed. He says they've been stationed at Ft. Hood for three years.

The United States Army has 'posts' NOT bases.

THANK YOU, Saigon Warrior! Some people just don't get that! Air Force bases are bases. Army Forts & Camps are posts! Another pet peave I have as an Army Wife: Air Force = airmen, not soldiers! There is a difference there!

Seriously? You could have found dozens of people in the area with ties this close.
I guess I should have alerted the media, because my son, daughter-in-law, wife's nephew, and the kid from across the street are all active duty Army stationed at Hood. All but one were on post at the time, and the nephew had just left the Readiness center five minutes before the shooting started.
Ditto the comment about "posts".
