Randy Jones believes the Good Lord helps those who help themselves.
The Shreveport man taught himself how play pool all over again. One handed.
That's because of what happened in Lawton, Oklahoma back in 1992. Randy came home to a burglary and didn't realize the burglars were still in the house until he was ambushed. He was shot in the neck with a 20 gauge shotgun.
Randy says in the middle of the pain and tragedy, miracles emerged. The bullet just grazed Randy's spine and it missed his jugular vein by about a quarter of an inch. Then, a police officer arrived and stopped him from bleeding to death.
Randy did lose complete function of his right arm. He's taught himself to be left-handed and has built a device that enables him to play pool one-handed. "I realized, you know, I can do this. It all depends on what you want to do and think you can do, determines what you're going to do."
