At the height of concerns that Red Chute Bayou would flood residential northeast Bossier City this past weekend, an estimated half of the people who live there decided to evacuate.
They've been coming back since late in the weekend, and today more were back after authorities lifted an evacuation advisory in the Stockwell-Carriage Oaks area.
"We're ready to be home. Nothing like the comfort of home," Laurie Spain said as she returned to Carriage Oaks Crossing Tuesday afternoon. Her family had evacuated on Saturday.
Mike Brandao, who also left, is concerned about the adequacy of the Red Chute levee.
"I'm just hoping the Corps of Engineers is working on a plan to make the levee stronger or making it able to hold more water for us the next time this happens," he said.
