Bossier City and Bossier Parish jail inmates have been shifted from sandbagging to tornado cleanup duty.
Thirty-one inmates from a parish jail Department were at GreenAcres Place townhomes in northwest Bossier City this morning, removing fallen trees and limbs.
Bossier City jail inmates were picking up tornado debris in neighboring Brownlee.
One townhome building was hit by lightning and burned last Thursday as a tornado hit GreenAcres Place. The tornado also damaged several townhomes.
Tornado debris cleanup will be done only today, sheriff's Lt. Ed Baswell said. Inmates in the group had been doing sandbagging since last Wednesday, Baswell said.
Inmates were also involved in sandbagging efforts in south Bossier Parish today. Earlier, they sandbagged in northeast Bossier City.
