Bill Hayford went to Brookshires on Line Avenue in Shreveport on a Sunday last month to pick up some butter and detergent. While Bill was in the express lane, he checked out. Of life. His heart stopped and he fell to the floor.
Nurse Bethany Hudson Noble was shopping in the store and heard the intercom page for help. I just broke out into a sprint and got to the express lane, remembers Bethany. Bethany and another nurse, who doesnt want to be identified, began administering CPR on Bill, who was blue, had no pulse and wasnt breathing.
Bethany is being credited with saving Bills life. In an emotional ceremony, Bethany was awarded the 2008 Clinical Save Award and the Citizen Accommodation Award by the Shreveport Fire Department. It was the first time she and Bill met face to face. Bill fought back the tears, Im just so grateful to be alive.
