Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover on Monday asked the governor and the New Orleans Saints owner to continue the team's Super Bowl celebration in Shreveport.

Glover sent letters to Saints owner Tom Benson and Gov. Bobby Jindal inviting Saints players to Shreveport for a downtown parade and a rally in Festival Plaza.

“Here in Shreveport, we would like to have the opportunity to share in the ebullience that will be celebrated in Tuesday’s Super Bowl parade in New Orleans,” Glover wrote. "Following Tuesday’s parade (in New Orleans), I am prepared to host a contingent of New Orleans Saints players later in the week for a downtown parade in Shreveport, with all the trimmings and ending with a victory rally in Festival Plaza.”

The Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday to win the Super Bowl. They returned to New Orleans on Monday. As of Monday afternoon, Glover had received no response from the Saints.

Great idea...yeah right.  We can't afford to fix the roads or pay our teachers or police a good wage, but let's blow tons of cash celebrating a football game.

Not just A GAME!!!!!!!  Negative Nancy!  The SUPER BOWL That people, like me, have waited since the beginning to see them win.  So Yeah!  I think it would be good for Shreveport/Bossier's businesses to have them come.

I have been around since the Saints were trying to decide a name, what colors to use and a symbol. I am now disabled and unable to travel to New Orleans and would love to see them come to "Louisiana's Other Side." They are not just New Orleans' team, they are the state's team.
