A Texarkana man who said his actions were intended to protect his mother from harm has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges in a shooting that happened at the victim's house.
Jeffrey Walraven, 19, is charged in the shooting death of Gregg Walker.
Investigators said Walraven and his mother had gone to Walker's home to pick up some clothes. Walraven felt threatened when he saw Walker with a gun, defense attorney Shannon Tuckett said.
Walraven had a sawed-off shotgun, investigators said. The victim was shot once in the chest.
