Narcotics investigation takes a bite out of crime

A Bossier City undercover narcotics investigation took a bite out of crime and several bites out of a major drug dealer.

30-year old Quintell Dewayne Gladney sold cocaine and ecstasy out of his car to undercover agents in the 2600 block of Fullilove Drive.

Gladney drove away from the scene with narcotics agents, BCPD Street Crimes Interdiction Unit, and a K-9 unit in pursuit. Gladney led authorities through several streets in Bossier before he crashed his car into four parked vehicles in the parking lot of Village Square Apartments. During the pursuit Gladney threw a loaded 9 mm handgun and some narcotics from his car, but officers recovered both.

A search of the inside of Gladney's car yielded more drugs and cash. In all police recovered 7.2 pounds of marijuana, 63 grams of powder cocaine, 56 grams of crack cocaine, 271 ecstasy tablets, 270 Xanax tablets, $6,321 in cash, scales, and plastic baggies. The estimated street value of the narcotics is $52,000.

Gladney was taken into custody with the assistance of a Bossier City Police K-9 . Bossier City EMS personnel took Gladney to LSU Hospital in Shreveport for treatment of dog bites.

Gladney was released from the hospital and booked into the Bossier City Jail at 3 a.m. on charges of distribution of cocaine, distribution of ecstasy, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of ecstasy with the intent to distribute, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, felon in possession of a fire arm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and aggravated flight from officers.

Gladney has been transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility where he is awaiting sentencing on a previous a drug distribution conviction. Sentencing on that charge is scheduled for September.
