A legislative panel is backing legislation that won't give raises to constitutional officers, lawmakers and other Arkansas state elected officials.
The Joint Budget Committee on Monday endorsed the proposed General Appropriation Act, which funds the expenses of the executive, judicial and legislative branches. The measure is the first legislation lawmakers must approve.
The $35.5 million proposal will keep state elected officials' salaries flat, with no raises planned. The bill now heads to the House floor for a vote.
