The man suspected of breaking into an elderly Shreveport woman's house and robbing her last month had gotten cash from her before by saying he was homeless and needed some money, police said today.
Donald Jones, 47, is named in an arrest warrant charging him with armed robbery. He was still at large Thursday afternoon.
Police said a man went to the woman's house in the 1600 block of Vivian Street late on the night of Oct. 14, forced his way in and took a small amount of cash and her car.
Earlier that week, that same man went to the woman's house, told her a sob story and ask for money, police said. She gave him a few dollars and he left, only to return later asking for more money.
He came back again late on the night of Oct. 14 but the woman wouldn't open the door, police said. The man forced his way in and robbed her, police said. The victim was not injured and her car was found abandoned a few blocks away.
Anyone with information about Jones' whereabouts is asked to call Shreveport police Detective Russell Ross at 318-673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
