The Shreveport Police Department is now releasing the names of the officers and suspect involved in yesterday's bank robbery and shooting.
Wednesday, around 9:15 a.m., Shreveport Police were called to Capital One Bank on Greenwood Road after they were alerted of a bank robbery. After the suspect entered the bank, he ordered everyone to the ground and fired shots into the ceiling. He then took a hostage and forced his way to the rear of the bank where he received some money. The suspect then released his hostage and left on a motorcycle. Officers knew they were looking for a heavy man riding a dark colored motorcycle.
Detective Jack Miller located the suspect and tried to stop him on Mansfield Road near Midway Avenue. While Miller was calling for backup, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle, discarded evidence, and began shooting at Detective Miller. Miller was struck at least one time in his legs, while he and Corporal Antwone Lane fired several shots at the suspect. Lane was not injured.
Detective Miller, who was alert and called for an ambulance himself on the radio, was transported to LSUHSC with serious injuries. The suspect, now identified as 27 year-old Jacob M. Morrison of Tyler, Texas, was transported to LSUHSC where he was pronounced dead.
