The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a Bethany man for using his job as a cash register technician to buy parts valued at more than $350,000 and resell them illegally on the internet.
Jess A. Matson, 28, was arrested Monday and booked into Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.
Matson is accused of ordering 50 port switchers, or routers, at $7,800 and billing them to his employer. He then resold them for $3,000 each on the internet. Detectives say he made nearly $150,000 on the scam.
The Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force was alerted after Matson's employer received a parts inventory from a shipper and realized that Matson was ordering parts for jobs he was not authorized to do.
Matson's bond has been set at $250,000.
