Texas set for release of October jobless rate

       AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The state could see a third consecutive month of at least 8 percent unemployment when the Texas Workforce Commission releases October figures.  The report due out Friday morning comes after September numbers that showed an increase in the jobless rate to 8.2 percent from 8 percent in August.  The August figure was the first time Texas hit 8 percent since 1987. Job losses have mounted in Texas as well.  The state has lost jobs every month but one over the past year, including more than 44,000 in September.  The September estimate of 10.3 million total jobs is the lowest in nearly three years.  Total nonagricultural employment has dropped 2.9 percent in the past year, according to commission figures.
