Red Chute Bayou continued to recede in Bossier Parish today, although high water in the far south end of the parish will lead authorities to close the major highway in that area this evening. Most of the debris from Thursday's tornado in Bossier City has now been removed.

Here are developments today regarding high water and tornadoes in Bossier over the past week:

-- U.S. 71 south of Elm Grove in south Bossier Parish will be closed at 6 p.m. today due to high water. The detour route is Louisiana 1 in Caddo Parish. High water remains in much of south Bossier Parish and several homes are still flooded, sheriff's deputies said.

-- An evacuation advisory remains in effect for Bossier Parish south of Highway 154 and Highway 157. That is expected to be lifted on Sunday. There is no evacuation order.

--  The Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard are still placing sandbags and rock on the Red Chute Bayou levee in northeast Bossier City. The Dogwood Trail bridge that connects that area with Dogwood subdivision will be closed for the next two weeks so equipment will have access to the levee. Stockwell Road will be closed from Ellington Way to Coy Roy.

-- While Red Chute continues to recede, it is still above the normal top of the levee and is contained by sandbags.

-- Lakeside Drive in the Carriage Oaks subdivision of Bossier City remains impassable, although the water is receding slowly, police said.

-- Storm debris collection has been completed in Greenacres Place subdivision in Bossier City, which was hit by a tornado. Work continued today on the Brownlee Road residential area.

-- The Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is asking property owners who had storm or flood damage to their property to report damages by calling (318) 425-5351 by next Wednesday. The information will be used to help determine if Bossier Parish will be eligible for individual financial assistance. Callers will be asked to provide their names, the address of the damaged location and information about insurance coverage.
