Woman ticketed for texting-while-driving

A driver has been ticketed for causing an accident that happened while she was text-messaging and driving at the same time, Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said.

Shadreka Clark, 20, was driving down Old Mooringsport Road Monday night when she ran off the right side of the road and hit two mailboxes. The vehicle then ran back across the road and hit a tree in the front yard of a house. She had to go to the hospital, Prator said.

Sheriff's deputies said they found an unfinished, unsent text message on a cell phone inside the vehicle.

Clark was cited for reckless operation of a vehicle, not wearing her seatbelt and improper cell phone use.
