Dr. Robert Kemmerly was the first OB/GYN specialist in rural northwest Louisiana, and was the head of The Women's Clinc in Minden. Dr. Kemmerly delivered about 15 babies a month. He officially retired a couple months ago. After finishing medical school at l-s-u in 1966, Dr. Kemmerly moved to Minden with one goal - to provide specialty treatment to women in rural northwest Louisiana. He says that at the time, there was no OB/GYN specialist in all of Webster, Claiborne, Bienville or Jackson parishes. Co-workers say they'll miss his many stories, and his ability to have a personal connection with each patient. Dr. Kemmerly plans to enjoy retirement by traveling, reading, and he hopes to complete a novel.
