Annie Lou Clayton Gibbs

Heaven is more beautiful today as God called one of His precious saints to heaven. Annie Lou Clayton Gibbs was born to R.E. "Bunk" and Blanche Clayton on October 2, 1924 in Athens, Texas. She died peacefully surrounded by her family on September 1, 2010.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside at 9:30 a.m. Officiated by Rev. John Harp and Rev. Adam Beach. Graveside services will be officiated by Rev. John Holland at the Owen Cemetery in Athens, Texas at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside.

Annie Lou is preceded in death by her parents, husband, of 49 years, Kenneth Gibbs, infant son, Kenneth Clayton Gibbs; daughter, Sheila Gibbs and brother Roy Eddie Clayton. She is survived by her loving daughter, Kay Holland and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Amanda Holland, Blair Holland and wife, Sarah and precious great-grandson, Paxton. Annie Lou is also survived by many extended family members and friends who loved her so much.

Annie Lou was an active member of Queensborough/Willow Point Baptist Church for 48 years. She touched the hearts and lives of countless children there as a Sunday School and Mission Friends teacher for many years.

Honoring Annie Lou as pallbearers will be nephews, Gary Gibbs, Jeremy Gibbs, Joshua Gibbs, Luke Pierson, Jason Schick and Jacob Schick. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Bill Demers, Chris Demers, Donnie Rekopf, David Rekophf and Steve Rekophf.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of her family and friends for all of the prayers and help with her care, during her illness. They also want to thank Dr. Liu, Dr. Schuler and other doctors and all the staff at Willis Knighton and Lifecare Pierremont for their compassion and care while she was there.

Memorials may be made to Willow Point Baptist Church or the Louisiana Baptist Children Home.
