Campaign Sign Debate Continues

2010 Vote

In the 2010 Vote, another salvo has been fired in the war over campaign signs in the Shreveport mayor's race. Just how big is too big? That's the big question. It's a debate that has grown this political season. Now the issue is headed to court while some are using their own sign to lash out.

A light is the only thing stopping traffic at intersection of Southfield and Gilbert. But early this morning it was something else. A amateur video posted on You Tube shows a large banner next to Shreveport mayoral candidate Bryan Wooley's campaign sign. It says the sign is illegal. Why? Some say Wooley's sign is too big.

The candidate had very little to say about the stunt or who he suspects put it up, claiming his opponents defaced one of his campaign signs in response to his economic development plans for the city.

Now, a Caddo District Judge will have something to say how just how big is too big when it comes to campaign signs. Attorney John Settle, who has been vocal about the size of Wooley's campaign signs, says he's going to court to ask the court whether Wooley's signs are too big.

The election for Shreveport mayor is October 2.
