For David Cox, he's not concerned with what party you're affililated with, he says he just wants to make Shreveport the best it can be.David Cox is on his second term with the Caddo Parish Commission. While every Shreveport mayor since the early 1980s has come from the city council, Cox thinks the commission has prepared him for the job.Cox, the manager of a Shreveport rental business says his top priorities are making improvements to the water and sewerage system, public safety and city finances.Cox supports a bond election to pay for city construction projects. He wants voters to decide how much they want to pay for.While the city is in better shape financially than other local governments, Cox says there are revenue sources that aren't being tapped. He points to fines and unpaid property taxes that aren't being collected.Cox believes more police officers need to be on the streets and fewer behind desks.Cox recently switched from the Republican party to an independent
