Day 1-New Orleans
We have arrived in New Orleans for Super Bowl week! Traffic was surprisingly light between Baton Rouge and New Orleans on the drive in. Once we set tires on New Orleans concrete, Rod White and I headed straight for the Morial Convention Center, aka, "Home", for this week.
Dozens upon dozens of radio stations/networks are set up in the Media Center's main room with the designated work room just off the side.
One event that stands out among those being hawked, the Flag Football event set for Wednesday evening at Newman High School to benefit "Team Gleason," the charity of former Saints special-teams ace, Steve Gleason. Diagnosed with ALS two years ago, Gleason and his family are living life to the utmost. The loss of motor skills has not diminished Gleason's zeal for doing the unthinkable... including the opening of a Home designated for ALS patients and their families.
After a 5+ hour drive, the Cheetos and vitamin water has run its course---time for some media food, which is the best free food available.
