LA Tech men cruise to 11th straight victory
RUSTON, La. – Raheem Appleby scored 15 points as Louisiana Tech defeated UT Arlington 64-51 Saturday night in the Thomas Assembly Center in front of a season high crowd of 5,024 fans to extend its winning streak to 11.
Louisiana Tech jumped out to an early 10-2 lead and never looked back. UT Arlington never led as Tech’s lead grew to as much as 16 late in the second half.
Louisiana Tech’s impressive three-point defense continued as the Mavericks shot just 1-12 from beyond the arc.
To go along with Appleby, Cordarius Johnson also scored in double digits adding 12 points along with four steals. Michale Kyser led the defensive effort as he blocked four shots. Also picking up multiple blocks on the night were Alex Hamilton and Brandon Gibson who blocked three and two shots, respectively.
UT Arlington was led by Brandon Edwards who led all scorers and rebounders with 17 points and nine rebounds. Greg Gainey also added 10 points for the Mavericks.
Louisiana Tech returns to action Thursday, Feb. 7 as they face off with UTSA in a 7 p.m. tipoff in the Thomas Assembly Center.
